The Honourable Dr.Jean Augustine PC, CM. CBE

Dr_AugustineBorn in St. George's, Grenada, The Honourable Jean Augustine is an energetic advocate of social justice. Before entering politics, she was an elementary school principal and was Chair of the Board of the Metropolitan Toronto Housing Authority. In 1993, she became the first Black woman elected to the Parliament of Canada and the first to serve in the federal Cabinet.

During her years as a federal member of parliament, Jean Augustine served notably as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister of Canada and as Secretary of State and Minister of State for Multiculturalism and the Status of Women. Among her accomplishments as an MP was the introduction of a motion, passed unanimously, to have February proclaimed as Black History Month in Canada.

During her tenure as Ontario's first Fairness Commissioner from 2007 and 2015, she was responsible for ensuring that qualified foreign-trained professionals could obtain the required licenses to practice in the province. Throughout her career, Augustine has supported many social causes through her involvement in boards such as that of The Hospital for Sick Children and her role as the National President of the Congress of Black Women of Canada.

In recognition of her achievements, she was inducted as Member of the Order of Canada and was awarded many distinctions including the Canadian Black Achievement Award, the YWCA Woman of Distinction She holds honorary doctor of laws degrees from the University of Toronto, McGill University, York University and gGuelph University.

* Travel Award from the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy to attend the 11th Biennial Australasian Schizophrenia Conference at Sydney, 22-24 September 2010.

* Travel Award for young psychiatrists from the Schizophrenia International Research Society to attend the 1st Schizophrenia Intentional Research Society Conference at Venice June 21-25, 2008.

* Dean ’s Award 2005 (CMO) for Excellence in Teaching from the Teaching and Research Unit,‘ the University of Newcastle and Northern Sydney Central Coast Health, Australia.

* Dr SS Jayaram Award for the best paper at IPSOCON — 2003 (Annual conference of the IPS South Zone).

Sidney H. Kennedy, MD, FRCPC

Dr_Kennedy_Sidney Dr. Sidney H. Kennedy is Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Arthur Sommer Rotenberg Chair in Suicide and Depression Studies at St. Michael's Hospital, and a Scientist at Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute and Krembil Research Institute, Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Kennedy is the lead investigator for a large depression biomarker initiative, the Canadian Biomarker Integration Network in Depression (CAN-BIND). He has published extensively on new drug evaluation, neuroimaging and neurostimulation therapies, personality factors in depression, antidepressant effects on sexual function and treatment guidelines for Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder.

Dr. Kennedy is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, the Immediate Past President of the International Society for Affective Disorders, former President of the Canadian College of Neuropsychopharmacology, and the founding chair of the Canadian Network for Mood and Anxiety Treatments (CANMAT) and co-lead in Guidelines for MDD and Bipolar Disorder. He has published more than 350 peer reviewed publications (h-index 67) and 11 books on depression and related topics.

Dr_Dilkhush_PanjwaniDr. Dilkhush Panjwani is a consultant psychiatrist at Trillium Health Partners and a lecturer in psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Over the past 40 years, he has not only served persons suffering from mental health problems in three different continents, but also tirelessly advocated to eradicate the stigma of mental illness through public awareness and education. He has provided voluntary community service to many bereaved families and newcomers to Ontario.

Dr. Panjwani has generously donated his time, knowledge and resources to community and non—profit organization such as Aga Khan Foundation Canada. BAPS Charities, and Focus Humanitarian Assistance, among many others. In addition he is founding member of the annual Lions Community walk/Run for Happiness in support of mental health. He has raised large amount of funds for Markham Stouffville Hospital, Canadian Mental Health Association and Ontario Shores Foundation & Center for Mental Health Sciences. He served as board member of Canadian Mental Health Association and Children Aid Society.

Dr. Panjwani's professional work and exemplary community services in both northern Ontario's rural communities and Greater Toronto Area have positively impacted the physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of several thousand Ontarians, as well as benefited the workplace and economy of Onrario. His community contributions have earned him the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Junilee Medal and recognition/awards from many organizations
